My Love For Cooking

My love for cooking without me even knowing started when I was a young girl, I was completely and utterly spoilt growing up by my parents wonderful cooking, as everything was made from scratch, from spices and herbs and fresh ingredients without a ready meal or jar in sight. And my mum certainly won't mind me saying that this was driven by my dad, and his love for fresh food and good recipes.

We used to have a rule growing up in our house, that if you helped to cook or you cooked dinner you didn't have to clean up or wash up afterwards, so I quickly learnt that helping my dad in the kitchen would get me out of the dishes!

With this, came my love for cooking from scratch and making something from nothing, or recipes on the fly with no guideline or method, to following a recipe completely and utterly with precision to create perfection. You name it we did it all, including dishes I swear my dad made up. Sometimes i'd cook just to ensure my dad didn't make his awful courgette ratatouille ravioli - which to this day still gives me nightmares and has put me off ravioli and penne pasta for years!

All jokes aside (even though i'm not joking :P) this bond and love for cooking was something I didn't even realise at the time existed and I'm so thankful my dad passed this passion on to me and also my brothers (they're OK in the kitchen too - constant family debate of who is better - even though we all know it is me obviously!).

I lost my dad a few years ago and I wasn't a coeliac then, but I know he would have been amazing at making gluten free dishes from scratch and he'd probably laugh but then love my blog and website and have helped me to create even better recipes and blogs for everyone to read.
